Dustin and I would take bets on when he would come home. When I was pregnant with the twins he guessed they would be born on Oct 21st. He was so sure of this that he got it engraved on a cologne bottle to keep. Roman came home on Oct 20th, but we woke up to our 1st full day with him on Oct. 21st! I always told my family once he was born that I believed he would be 5 lbs 4 ounces when he came home from NICU and what did they tell me he weighed when we left? 5 lbs 4.3 ounces!!
He took the car seat test a total of 4 times! I took him his nursery pics before the 4th test and gave him a pep talk. Then the dreaded 1.5 hours began and Dustin and I watched him in his carseat, listening to the monitors and watching the numbers. The desat levels fluctuate continously and if it goes to 83 or below and stays there for 30 seconds...he fails. I don't know if watching it was a good idea or not, because I was a nervous wreck!! It was the longest 1.5 hour of my life!! Watching each minute hoping not to hear that beep, knowing that with each minute that passed we could be: one minute closer to taking our baby home...being able to hold my baby with out wires and monitors and nurses watching every move...introduce him to our family members...and ultimatly having my dream of becoming a mother to a healthy baby boy come true! About a week ago, the song "I'm Goin Home" by Doughtry popped in my head out of the blue while we were eating at Buffalo Wild Wings. I even interrupted Dustin talking to one of his friends and said "Dustin, I want to play this song on the blog when Roman comes home!" On the morning of the 4th test, Dustin left the house to do some errands before going to the hospital. He called me right after pulling out of the driveway and said..."I have a really good feeling about todays test...listen what was on the radio when I turned on my car!" Sure enough it was that song. I took that as a great sign! So of course I have it playing as Roman's theme song to coming home :)
"This car seat test is hard work!!!"
Roman posed for this picture all on his own below right as the 1.5 hour was up! I think he's saying "hmmm I think I passed!!"
After passing his test we changed him and cuddled with him. It was a happy moment!
He was pooped, but look...he's still showing with his fist how strong he is!

Very Serious Face
Then it was time for us to "room in" one night at the hospital. I took this of Dustin watching the Ranger Game in our room holding Roman for the 1st time without any wires or monitors!!! Ahhhhh!
The next morning, we bathed Roman and got him all suited up in his "take home" outfit that we had picked out months and months ago!!! Isn't he so cute? As we wheeled him out of the nursery the nurses gave us a standed O and clapped, cheered, and hugged us! They said they were gonna miss Roman so much! They follow his blog now so they can keep posted.
Still has the chubby cheeks at home!
"Oooooh this bouncy chair feels good!"
"Charlie meet Roman....Roman meet Charlie!"
