Just got a call from the embryologist and she gave me the following information. Out of the 10 embryo's, 6 of them are looking good (have the amount of cells that they like to see on Day 3). The other 4: 3 of them have 10 cells, and the other one has 12 cells. On day 3 they like to see anywhere from 6-9 cells. The 6 good ones have 8 cells. She said this is good, and she is hoping I may have 1 or 2 blastocysts (the best grade) to transfer by day 5 and she hopes I will have a couple or some to freeze. On the day of the transfer I will know the grade of the embryos they will transfer (could be 4AA blastocyst, 4AA, 4AB, 4BB, 4BC, 4CC...the number 4 could be any number between 1-5. 4 or 5 is ideal. In 2 days a lot can change. She even said that the 4 that have more cells than normal still may turn out ok. These numbers are just the doctors way of grading the embryo's and they base that grade on the likelihood of a successful pregnancy. Its not scratched in stone though. I have talked to a lot of women who get pregnant with grades B's and C's...so once again, God has the ultimate control. I asked her if we were doing a 3 day transfer and all we had were the 4 embryos would they still transfer them, and she said yes. I hadn't done much research on this before, so alot of this didn't make sense at first. After doing more research, I feel good about the report, and just have to continue to pray they they keep growing!! She said some may stop growing or grow poorly. My 5 day transfer is set for Tuesday at 3:00! I have acupuncture before the transfer, and after the transfer then bed rest for 3 days. I can't have caffeine, no intercourse, I can't lift anything more than 5 lbs until my blood test which should be Friday March 11th.
I just pray to continue feeling God's hand guiding me through each step and day. Thank you for your prayers!!!

That is really confusing about how they grade the eggs. I'll have to do some research too. But it sounds like you got great news and it sounds like you could have enough to freeze which is great!! Praying for you!!
ReplyDeleteThat great news!! I hope you have some left to freeze.
